speaking of riding…ride out to some duke city classic events this weekend.

bust out the quickest 13 miles of your life for prizes, glory, and bbq. registration begins @ 700pm, riders start launching at 730, at one minute intervals.

we start at the embudo channel trail and cutler…basically right under carlisle, just north of the interstate. we finish where we started…then wander over to rudy’s for prizes, bbq, and beer.

the route is a 13 mile out and back jaunt on the ndc (north diversion channel) trail. there is one stop sign to deal with (twice), the rest is wide open.

fixed and multigear classes.

‘polo race (joyride/bar bikes encouraged, riders be prepared to carry a couple lbs. of stuff, this will be a task based, short distance event)

meet 1:00 at the unm duck pond, race will have a 2 hour time limit and will end at the heights community center/cnm bball courts 823 buena vista se ( south of coal & buena vista)

pickup polo (joyride/bar bikes)
meet between 3 and 5 at heights community center basketball courts (at cnm on buena vista se) to play some bicycle polo. mallets will be provided. we will do some basic lessons and play some low key games. pick up a mallet and give it a shot.’

intergalactic planetary bike prom parade and event launch party. get all the details about the upcoming dcc events while you rock out. everyone welcome, all ages, all bikes allowed. dress up, dress your bike up, bring a friends, show up late if you can’t make it early! this is going to be the best duke city classic yet, so hop on your bike, join the parade, party with your bike friends, and make some new ones!!!

rings and cogs gnash their teeth as torque is applied. the sound of an underlubricated chain and the wind are all i hear while  pushing and pulling simultaneously on the bike strapped between my legs. my heart pumps like an overdose of blue sky…each breath feels one step closer towards sucking fire into my lungs.

halfway up the road, i’m passed on the left, then the right. i maintain my pace (it’s all i have to give), past the cheering spectators, and over the finish. ¡oh shit, speedbump!

friday, may 24th, fixed and furious is back! sprints! skid comp! trick jam! trackstand contest! footdown! yes, footdown.

anyhow, sam just gave us another reason to be envious…he’s the newest member of up and coming seattle band, ravenna woods. it’s about time one of my friends made good. no, the rest of you haven’t…yet.
